The sinuses are severely blocked due to chronic inflammation — the swollen mucosal tissue highlighted in red — showing obstruction in frontal, ethmoid and maxillary sinuses. The green labels identify nasal structures including septum (divides left and right nasal cavities), and turbinates. | The sinuses are air filled and unobstructed. The swelling is gone or reduced (highlighted in red), with more black areas showing improved airflow and drainage. This results in long-term relief, with over 90% of patients reporting improvement. |
Balloon sinuplasty is a game-changer for people suffering from chronic sinusitis—a condition where inflammation blocks sinus passages, leading to persistent symptoms like nasal congestion, thick nasal discharge, facial pain or sinus pressure, postnasal drip, reduced sense of smell, sinus headaches, and more.

Balloon sinuplasty is a minimally invasive office procedure that opens blocked sinuses, improving sinus drainage and airflow, relieving sinus pain and congestion. The natural sinus openings are gently expanded by inflating a tiny balloon, similar to how a balloon angioplasty opens blocked coronary arteries. Saline is flushed through the sinus to clear out mucus, pus, or debris, reduce inflammation, and improve normal sinus drainage.
Most insurances cover balloon sinuplasty or minimally invasive sinus surgeries. ENT doctor and sinus specialist Henri Tannas, MD, along with a board-certified anesthesiologist, performs in-office balloon sinuplasty with TIVA (Total IV Anesthesia.) Patients can often return to work within days.
